(bisons.com)-The Bisons used some unorthodox scoring and five solid innings from Jenrry Mejia to defeat the Pawtucket Red Sox, 9-3, Sunday night at Coca-Cola Field.

Lucas Duda had three hits and scored three runs in the victory.
The Bisons will go for the two-game sweep of the PawSox on Monday night at 7:05 p.m.

Buffalo found the scoreboard early, often and in unique ways. Of the nine runners that touched home plate, only three came around on base hits.

Adam Loewen put the Herd on the board in the second inning when PawSox starter Zach Stewart threw away a pick off attempt at first base. Loewen was on third base again in the fifth and was "balked" home by reliever Alex Wilson. That gave the Herd a 5-2 advantage.

Buffalo then batted around and scored three runs in the sixth inning on just one hit. Fred Lewis and Zach Lutz walked around Lucas Duda's third hit of the game. Loewen then grounded a pitch back to the mound, but Wilson's throw pulled catcher Mike Rivera off the plate and allowed Lewis to score.

Josh Satin's sacrifice fly made the score 7-2 and Matt den Dekker and Matt Tuiasosopo drew walks to force in an eighth run.

Josh Rodriguez capped the scoring the old-fashion way, with his sixth home run of the season in the eighth inning.

The offense went to benefit of Jenrry Mejia, who earned his first victory as a starter this season. The righty, who made 16 appearances out of the bullpen earlier this year, allowed two unearned runs in five innings on six hits. He struck out a pair.
