BUFFALO, N.Y. - The City of Buffalo has unveiled the two competing proposals between the Buffalo Sabres and Ellicott Development for development of the city's Webster Block.

Mayor Byron Brown put out the RFP (Request for Proposal) at the beginning of April and has now unveiled the details of each project to the public.

Both projects cost over $60 million to develop and include hotels, restaurants, and parking. The Sabres' proposal offers two ice rinks to anchor its project while the Ellicott proposal focuses more of office and residential space.

Both projects are also asking for some form of public subsidies. The city has yet to determine how much will be offered.

The land is currently owned by the city. Mayor Brown said he is unsure if a long-term lease will be offered to the developer, or if the city will sell the land.

The city will discuss the plan before it makes its decision on August 15th. However officials are asking the public to submit their input on the project.
