BUFFALO, N.Y. -- A fire caused $100,000 damage to the boyhood home of Buffalo native Tim Russert, the late host of NBC's "Meet the Press."

The fire at 174 Woodside Avenue in South Buffalo started around 10 p.m. in the rear of the home and spread to the second floor and attic.  No one was hurt, and there's no word on what caused the fire.

The Buffalo Fire Department rescued a puppy from the fire.

Four adults and two children who currently reside there are now being assisted by the American Red Cross.

Russert died suddenly in June 2008 after suffering a heart attack while preparing to record the show open for that week's edition of "Meet the Press."  He was just 58-years-old.

The portion of Woodside where Russert grew up has been designated as "Tim Russert Way."
