BUFFALO, NY - Chris Collins is the GOP nominee in the Republican Primary for the 27th Congressional District.
The former Erie County Executive ran against Iraq War Veteran David Bellavia. Collins campaigned on his experience as a businessman and running Erie County like a business.
Collins will face Democrat Kathy Hochul in November.
While the state's federal primary for congressional offices was held in June. The state and local primary is still in September.
If you are wondering why there is an extra primary this year, it is because a lawsuit challenged the state's September primary saying it did not allow enough time for absentee ballots to be sent to military voters for the general election. A judge agreed with the lawsuit and ruled in January to create the new federal primary on June 26th.
Results from all the races are on WGRZ.com.
