State Trooper Christopher Sullivan rejects any reference to any hero status but he is being recognized for his life - saving efforts which revived a two year old girl following a pool accident last month.

Sullivan was honored with a proclamation by the Erie County Legislature for his use of CPR to save little Lillian Nawotka on the night of May 23rd. The child was pulled by relatives from her family's backyard pool on Omphalius Road in Colden but she was not responsive. State police say the girl had apparently gotten out of her parents' home and jumped back in the water.

Sullivan, who is based in the town of Boston,  responded and was able to revive the child who was then rushed to Women and Children's Hospital of Buffalo. The trooper says her family told him the child has recovered fully and is now healthy.

Trooper Sullivan is the father of three young children and says his training and parental instinct kicked in to help him in the rescue effort. His wife Kristina is also the synchronized swim coach for the Swimkins program in Williamsville. So they both urge everyone to take a CPR class so they could be effective in the effort to save a life.
