NIAGARA FALLS, NY - One of the few controversies surrounding Nik Wallenda's walk over Niagara Falls was something Nik never wanted to happen.

That of course was the harness that he wore, for the first time ever, tethering him to the 1,800 foot cable across the falls.

His sponsors demanded that he wear one, and while he did wear the safety device he also warned that he would not hesitate to remove it if it ever impeded his progress.

The system was specially developed by Wallenda's crew and 2 On Your Side's Dave McKinley saw it up close on Tuesday as they tested it out.

During the walk Friday night, Wallenda's team was in contact with him, and remind him to make sure the truck didn't catch on the wire pendulums and pull him backwards.

He never had to remove it and was asked after completing his high-wire walk about how the harness worked.

"It was definitely there," said Wallenda. "It was something that I was very nervous about every time I crossed over a pendulum. It was something that was on my mind and I would kind of pause for a minute but I made it across successfully."
