BUFFALO, NY - A spring snowstorm covered parts of WNY with a heavy wet snow.  Areas south and east of Buffalo received varying amounts of snow with the largest amounts found over the higher elevations of the Southern Tier.  Areas under 1000ft of elevation which include most locations near the lake as well as the northern suburbs saw it snow, but just didn't have it stick to the ground. In these areas a strong April sun and warm ground temperatures were able to absorb the falling snow to produce wet roads and only a light slush on the grass and trees.

Higher elevations south and east of Buffalo are shoveling out from a heavy wet spring snow this morning.  Areas of Genesee and Orleans counties found 2-4 inches of fresh snow this morning, while towns in Wyoming, Allegany, Cattaraugus, Chautauqua and S. Erie counties received more than 6 inches of snow.  Power outages were reported in areas where snow totals surpassed 4 inches and fortunately were held to a minimum.
