BATAVIA, N.Y. - The woman charged with punching a 70-year old Walmart cashier in the face entered a not guilty plea during an appearance Thursday morning in Genesee County Court.

Jacquetta Simmons, 26, was charged last month by a grand jury with two counts of assault in connection with the Christmas Eve incident in the Town of Batavia. She allegedly punched the elderly woman after being asked to show a receipt for items inside a Walmart bag being held by a man in line with her at the checkout.

Simmons remains free on $40,000 bail.
