DANSVILLE, NY - An 18-year-old man has been charged in accident that claimed the life of one of his friends and sent four others to the hospital.

Clayton Benedict, 18, was the driver of a Mitsubishi 3000 GT that emergency crews found upside down off Frontage Road, with one passenger ejected around 2 am Saturday.

A total of five people were taken to Noyes Memorial Hospital with serious injuries. 22-year-old Joshua Stiggins later died of his injuries.

Benedict has been charged with DWI, vehicular manslaughter and other traffic offenses. He has been arraigned and remanded to the Livingston County Jail on $25,000 cash bail or $50,000 bond.

The other passengers that were taken to the hospital are Charles Piliero, 20 years old, Travis Jones, 20 years old, and Jesse Galton, 20 years old.

The cause of this accident is still under investigation by the Livingston County Sheriff's Office.
