BUFFALO, NY - Three UB students who claimed they were robbed in a dorm on UB's North Campus early Thursday morning were themselves arrested by police for selling drugs.

The three students who reported the initial robbery were arrested by UB police investigators and charged with making a false written statement, criminal possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of marijuana.

Chief of UB Police Jerry Schoenle said, "This is clearly not a random robbery, as initially reported. The individuals who reported this incident appeared to be selling drugs, and there is no doubt that whatever did in fact occur had something to do with their own criminal culpability, which ultimately resulted in their arrest."

The students will have to face the University's Student-Wide Judiciary, where they could face a possible suspension from the school.

Anyone with additional information is asked to call University Police Investigations at 716-645-2228.
