Buffalo, NY (Sports Network) - Walter Offutt scored 23 points as the Ohio University Bobcats defeated the Buffalo Bulls, 88-77, in a Mid-American Conference tilt at Alumni Arena.
D.J. Cooper added 20 points and eight assists for the Bobcats (22-6, 9-4 MAC), while Nick Kellogg chipped in 15 points.
Mitchell Watt led four Bulls (16-9, 9-4) in double figures with 19 points, with Javon McCrea finishing with 15, Titus Robinson scoring 14 points and Zach Filzen adding 11.
Buffalo shot 44.4 percent to start the game, but made only 2-of-13 from three- point range. Ohio could manage only 37.4 percent from the field in the first half, but connected on 5-of-13 from beyond the arc which allowed it to take a 37-32 lead at the break.
In the second half the Bulls were much improved, shooting 50 percent from the field, including 5-of-12 on three-point attempts. The Bobcats made just 39.5 percent, including 5-of-15 from long distance. Ohio was a perfect 16-of-16 at the free-throw line in the second half, while Buffalo made 12-of-17. The Bobcats overcame their poor shooting by taking 10 more attempts from the floor, as they won their third straight.
Ohio converted 21 offensive rebounds into 24 second-chance points. The Bobcats also scored 18 points off 14 Bulls turnovers.
