AMHERST, N.Y.-Kenmore East beat Sweet Home 43-30 Tuesday night in a Class A-1 Prequarter final.
Bulldogs head coach Kristy Bondgren told Two On Your Side's Stu Boyar "I liked everything about the way we played. We spent a lot of time talking about team play. We played great defense tonight, making great adjustments. Our seniors stepped up like they're supposed to, they really stepped up and showed what the game meant to them. Sweet Home is a strong team, they come out real strong and we needed to make a statement in the first four minutes. We talk a lot about four minute segments. We wanted to come out strong to give ourselves the confidence we needed for this game. We wanted this game as a team."
Kenmore East had two players in double figures and one just missed with nine points. The Bulldogs top scorer was # 21 Megan Crawford with 11 points. # 5 Gabe Boldinski had 10 and # 22 Ashley Kirbis finished with nine points. For Sweet Home # 11 Alyssa Perk led the way with nine points.
Kenmore East pulled away in the second quarter. Kristy told Stu "defense creates offense and we played great defense and got great energy from it. Its hard to have your energy drop when things are going so well at both ends of the court. When we get it going we gotta let it roll and that's what we did tonight."
Kenmore East will play at Hamburg next Tuesday.
