ATTICA, N.Y. (AP) -As several different agencies finish up their work at the Wyoming County SPCA site in Attica, some of the cats seized as part of the on-going investigation there are ready for new homes.

Officials remained on site Thursday cleaning and inspecting the building and a report is expected to be issued Friday on issues that need to be addressed before it could be reused.

Meanwhile, officials from the Wyoming County SPCA have surrendered their satellite site at the Eastern Hills Mall to the Erie County SPCA. Gina Browning, spokesperson for the Erie County SPCA, says some of the cats from the Attica shelter will be available for adoption there on Friday from 9 A.M. to 6 P.M. The site is located in the mall across from the Dipson Theatres.

The spokeswoman for the Erie County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals tells the Daily News of Batavia that 505 have been found at its shelter in Attica in neighboring Wyoming County.

Browning says close to 40 felines, considered not properly socialized, remain inside the building and no decision has been reached yet on what will happen to them.

More than 350 of the cats have been transferred to other shelters.

The Attica SPCA shelter was raided last Wednesday by state police and Erie County SPCA workers investigating animal cruelty reports.

Authorities say the cats were living in "horrific" conditions.

No charges have been filed but the investigation is continuing.
