NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. -- There's a new head veterinarian in place at the SPCA of Niagara.
Dr. Peter Freyburger will be the new veterinarian at the shelter for the next six months, following allegations of mismanagement and abuse that surfaced last month.
Dr. Freyburger is a 1976 graduate of Cornell University and went to school at Kenmore East High School.
He will volunteer his time as lead veterinarian at the shelter while it goes through a period of change where a new board of directors is expected to be chosen by membership.
Last week, the board hired another vet, Doctor Grant Hobika. But it was announced he would not serve after former co-workers criticized the choice.
