GENESEE COUNTY, NY - Multiple fire and emergency crews were called to a large three-alarm fire Sunday morning in the Town of Alabama.
Crews arrived shortly after 10:30 a.m. to find the old two-story farmhouse at 7650 Macomber completely engulfed in flames.
Peter Dart and his family were home at the time of the fire. At the smell of smoke, we went upstairs to check on his 13-month-old infant. The bedroom the baby was in was filled with heavy smoke.
The 13-month-old was taken to UMMC, where he was treated for smoke inhalation and released.
Officials determined the cause of the fire was an electrical heater which was plugged into an outlet with an extension cord.
The house is complete loss.
Two firefighters were injured when part of the roof fell on top of them. They were treated on the scene for minor burns.
Chief firefighter for the Pembroke Fire Department, Don Newton, told 2 On Your Side there was a critical water issue. Crews ran out of water multiple times and had to rely on surrounding companies to bring in more water.
