AMHERST, NY - The Amherst Police say they have arrested a Buffalo handyman they say charged an elderly resident a large sum of money for work that he did not do.
Detectives say Michael Amanti, 52, targeted an elderly resident of Amherst. He claimed to have made substantial repairs to the home, for which he was paid, but the work was never done.
They say Amanti also claimed that he obtained work permits for the repairs from the Town of Amherst, which he had not, but still charged the victim.
Amanti is charged with with one count of Grand Larceny 3rd Degree and three counts of Grand Larceny 4th Degree.
