NORTH TONAWANDA, NY - A substitute teacher at North Tonawanda High School has been fired for an inappropriate relationship with a student.
North Tonawanda school officials say 25-year-old substitute teacher Scott Miranto had an "improper relationship" with a 17-year-old student at the high school.
Miranto, who was also a coach at the school, has since been fired from the district.
Superintendent Greg Woytila said the relationship lasted three to five weeks, and that there is no evidence that it was sexual in nature.
No criminal charges have been filed.
Last week, 2 On Your Side looked into questions about the alleged relationship and both the district and North Tonawanda Police said they were not aware of any incidents involving a teacher and student.
Woytila says new information has come to light since, and that lead to Monday's firing.
In addition to substitute teaching, Miranto was an assistant coach for the Boys Modified Basketball team and the JV Football team.
