The flight 3407 families and NYS lawmakers mark a major day in their fight to make the skies for all Americans safer.
The family members of Flight 3407 victims were in Washington, DC Tuesday to meet with local lawmakers and the interim FAA administrator.
The Senate has passed the most significant aviation safety legislation in 50 years. The FAA Reauthorization bill passed the Senate late last night.
The bill tackles several key safety issues 3407 family members had been fighting for.
It will also speed the nation's switch from radar to an air traffic control system based on G-P-S technology, and will open U.S. skies to unmanned drone flights within four years.
President Obama still has the sign the bill.
