NIAGARA FALLS, NY-- With news of an inquiry by the state Attorney General, you can add a state Senator to the list of those calling for the entire SPCA of Niagara Board of Directors to step down.
This comes after a formal complaint was filed with the state AG office by a group representing 100 volunteers and members of the SPCA of Niagara.
They're asking for the full board to be immediately replaced, in light of an independent report that said the board of directors is dysfunctional and that some board members acted on their own, to the detriment of the entire organization.
Two On Your Side's Maryalice Demler asked State Senator George Maziarz about that and what needs to happen to restore public confidence.
"Do you feel like a new broom needs to sweep clean to restore the public's confidence in that facility given what has occurred there?" Demler asked.
"Yes I do. Yes I do," said Senator Maziarz. "I think we have to have a complete new board there," he added.
Sources tell Two On Your Side that the state Attorney General's office will be meeting with the SPCA of Niagara Board of Directors on Tuesday.
Two On Your Side will be covering that meeting and we'll keep you informed.
