NIAGARA FALLS, NY - Niagara Falls Police say they need the public help in their search for several people who took part in a spree of vandalism early Monday morning. The department also has some evidence that could also help them with this case.
Police say a group of people are responsible for slashing the tires, and damaged at least 10 cars on 3 different streets in the City. Some of that was all caught by a surveillance camera.
Police did release some grainy video to 2 On Your Side showing the group approaching 2 parked cars in the 500 block of 19th Street. First one person threw a beer can at the back window of one of the cars breaking it, before throwing a second can. Then another man walked up to one of the tires, and slashed it with a sharp object letting all the air out.
Captain William Thomson told 2 On Your Side the same thing happened on a few other streets including 20th Street where six cars were damaged.
"It upsets us an these are senseless acts, and it causes damage and it takes out time to work on these things when there are other more important crimes that need our attention, but when you all of a sudden have 10 victims over night we have to address this also," said Thomson.
Thomson also released video of a man he says may be linked to 3 separate robberies in the city. One of those robberies happened Monday afternoon at a Dunkin Donuts shop on Niagara Falls Boulevard. The tape showed an employee opening the cash register, then give the man some cash before he ran out the front door.
Thomson said another robbery was also reported later that night by a man who closely matched the description of the one at the donut shop.
Niagara Falls Police urge anyone with information regarding these two crimes to contact them immediately.
