Ottawa, ON - Sabres captain Jason Pominville will participate in two events during the All-Star skills competition on Saturday.
Playing as a member of Team Alfredsson, Pominville with be the target shooter for the Skills Challenge Relay. The event puts 14 All-Stars and two rookies from each team together. The competition combines several skills in succession. The target shooter is the last leg of the relay.
Pominville will also be one of the shooters in the final event of the competition, the Elimination Shootout. The Sabres forward is enjoying his first All-Star game experience. "I've come a long way, it makes it feel even more so unique and special," said Pominville. "Just excited about the opportunity to be here and participate in the events and be able to meet some of the guys."
Sabres rookie forward Luke Adam is one of 12 rookies that will participate in the skills competition. Adam is a member of Team Chara, captained by Boston's Zdeno Chara .
Adam was selected to be the rookie participant in the hardest shot competition, an event typically dominated by Chara. The Bruins defenseman owns the current record in the event with a 105.9 mph shot.
Adam sent out this tweet when he learned about his event, "Hardest shot?! Will it be embarrassing when I don't break 80? #toughbreak."
The skills competition is scheduled to start at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday night in Ottawa.
