BUFFALO, NY - While news of a new cancer vaccine is certainly exciting news from a health care perspective, it could also mean big things for the economic health of the area.
Tom Kucharski is the President of Buffalo Niagara Enterprise. His main job is to attract businesses and development to Western New York. The Roswell announcement acts as another page in his portfolio.
Kucharski says that success breeds success and other businesses researching the area will see this and think "why not give Buffalo a chance".
The potential that the new vaccine would be produced in Buffalo stands to bring hundreds of jobs here, but Kucharski says the big economic off-shoot is the other companies that come here on the heels of it. He adds that it also stands as a strong indicator that they're heading in the right direction.
"The fact that we're getting growth in clusters we've concentrated on validates the path that we're on and should produce long-term benefits, these are industries that should continue to grow."
