BUFFALO, NY - The U.S. Geological Survey is showing a 4.0 magnitude earthquake has shook the Youngstown, Ohio area.
The earthquake registered shortly after 3 p.m. on Saturday.
The quake was felt throughout the state of Ohio and even here in Western New York. Some residents have reported feeling the quake in Williamsville.
Only one week ago, the same area experienced a 2.5 magnitude earthquake on Christmas Eve.
The area experienced a series of minor quakes in 2011, though Ohio residents said Saturday's appeared to be stronger than others. Many of the quakes were near an injection well used to dispose of brine water that's a byproduct of oil and gas drilling.
Its owner agreed this week to stop injecting brine into the earth while the quakes are investigated.
So far there is no word on any damages or injuries.
