BUFFALO, NY - He's been in the headlines recently for a high profile DWI arrest and plea, but Friday former Sabres star Matthew Barnaby was getting his hands dirty in a good way.
Barnaby and his two kids were out at Saint Luke's Mission of Mercy to help out with donations.
After his own string of legal issues, Barnaby seemed very modest as he talked about the work his family joined in on Friday. "It grounds you and certainly I've been grounded in the last few months. But to bring my kids down here, I didn't have to beg them or anything. They wanted to help out."
Barnaby also said it wasn't a job or a punishment, just something he wanted to do to give back to the community.
"I think when you see the kids, the way they were raised and at school, and to be able to give back and know how fortunate you are, and to be able to help someone in need especially this time of year, it's extra special." added Barnaby.
