BUFFALO, NY--  A local group that serves the blind is looking for some heroes.

For the last 25 years, the Niagara Frontier Radio Reading Service has been recording readings of newspapers, magazines and books, and broadcasting them on a service for the blind.

The problem they're having is they have been using old audio tape machines to record the broadcasts. While the machines may have served them well, it is time for an upgrade.

"I was writing a fundraising letter a couple of weeks ago, and while I was writing the fundraising letter, three of our machines broke down," says Robert Sikorski, president of Niagara Frontier Radio Reading Service. "And it is brutal to find the parts and the people to fix the machines."

Sikorski is planning on replacing the old machines with new computers for digital recording and that would take a lot of money.

If you can help with a donation, call them at 716-821-5555.

They are also always looking for volunteers to read.
