CHEEKTOWAGA, NY - An American Airlines Flight was forced to make an emergency landing in Buffalo Sunday evening.

Officials say Flight 177 flew out of JFK heading to San Francisco when the pilot noticed smoke coming from the cockpit.

The plane made the emergency landing at the Buffalo Niagara International Airport around 7:20 p.m. with no problems.

All 173 passengers were escorted off the plane without injury.

American Airlines is working to bring in another plane to send the passengers on their way to San Francisco.

Officials say the plane is currently being checked out by mechanics.
