BUFFALO, NY - It was a busy Sunday morning for the Erie County Executive. An appearance on WBEN's Hardline followed by an appearance on the national level on Fox News, have both addressed the recent issue of ballot tampering.

Collins was on the national network to discuss the recent allegations of ballot tampering in the race for his current seat as Erie County Executive against Erie County Comptroller Mark Poloncarz.

At the beginning of the segment, Collins said, "What we've seen in the last week leading up to the elections is a disturbing trend of dirty tricks and out-right election fraud here in Buffalo and Erie County that involves my opponent and his supporters, a Democrat operative in the Erie County Board of Elections and also the executive of director of the New York State Democratic Party."

Forensic teams were able to identify the alleged person of interest based on an unopened absentee ballot that was returned to the Board of Elections according to Collins.

When asked about the whole situation possibly being a mistake, Collins responded, "They were trying to frame my campaign and it has backfired on them." He then added "It's just a shame that desperation will lead to acts like this."

Host Eric Shawn also mentioned candidate Mark Poloncarz was not available for interviews Sunday morning.

Charlie King, the Executive Director of the New York State Democratic Party, released the following statement in response to Chris Collins' appearance on Fox News:

"Chris Collins will do anything to distract voters from his dismal record on job creation in Erie County," said Charlie King, NY State Democratic Party Executive Director.

"In addition to failing to address the job losses and tax hikes in his record, he has failed to respond to the fact that Democratic voters have been targeted by a spate of fraudulent, harassing phone calls in recent days. We have asked the Erie County District Attorney to investigate the matter and expect a thorough effort to prosecute those responsible to the fullest extent of the law. These campaign underhanded tactics underscore Collins' fear of running on his record of job losses and property tax increases as well as the culture of cronyism within his Administration," King concluded.
