BUFFALO, NY - What kind of Sabres games would they be if there weren't any Sabres Fans? A large group of fans are headed to Germany to follow the team on their Europe trip.
The group of 70 travelers was put together by AAA as soon as the Sabres announced the games over seas. With help from the team, a coordinated fan tour was created.
The group took off from the Buffalo Niagara International Airport around 1:30 Sunday afternoon. According to tour director Barbara Hughes, they will arrive in Frankfurt and then travel to Mannheim to appear as special guests while the Sabres practice.
During the six night trip, fans will also have the opportunity to see the sites in Berlin, Munich and Helinski.
A couple from Tonawanda says they wouldn't have missed the trip for anything, "We have season tickets and we heard about it, we decided we had to go. It's a chance in a lifetime."
Don Richardson's son flew in from California to accompany him on the trip. "It's a once in a lifetime adventure," said Richardson.
