BUFFALO, N.Y. (WGRZ) -- Pop star Lady Gaga tweeted twice Wednesday night about Williamsville teen Jamey Rodemeyer's suicide.
Jamey's parents say he killed himself because he was bullied. He posted You Tube videos in which he openly admitted to struggling with questions about his sexuality.
Lady Gaga, an advocate for the gay and lesbian community, tweeted: "Jamey Rodemeyer, 14 yrs old, took his life because of bullying. Bullying must become be illegal. It is a hate crime."
She also posted: "I am meeting with our President. I will not stop fighting. This must end. Our generation has the power to end it. Trend it #MakeALawForJamey"
Lady Gaga isn't the only one bringing national attention Jamey's death.
Jamey's story is touching so many people. NBC News in New York dedicated time Wednesday during Nightly News to the topic and many other news outlets are doing the same.
