BUFFALO, NY - For the first time in nearly four decades, a man with the last name Hoyt will not represent the 144th State Assembly district.
2 On Your Side is declaring Sean Ryan, the endorsed Democratic candidate, the winner of Tuesday's special election to replace Sam Hoyt. Hoyt vacated his seat earlier this year to take a job in the Cuomo administration. Hoyt's father Bill held the seat prior to his son.
Ryan defeated Sean Kipp and Gregory Horn in the only true election race on Primary Day.
The 144th district includes most of North Buffalo and all of Grand Island.
