BUFFALO, NY - Only a few weeks after First Niagara announced the purchase of all HSBC branches in Western New York, another major announcement was made Thursday.
The name of the Buffalo Sabres home, formerly the HSBC Arena, is being changed to the "First Niagara Center."
Buffalo Sabres President Ted Black along with First Niagara CEO John Koelmel made a formal announcement regarding the name change Thursday afternoon.
First Niagara's purchase of the naming rights to the arena is a 15 year deal that will include new branding on both interior and exterior signage. The deal also means the arena will exclusively carry First Niagara ATM's on site.
The financial terms of the agreement have not been released.
