BUFFALO, NY - Republican Jane Corwin has conceded the 26th District congressional race to Democrat Kathy Hochul.

Western New York has been in the spotlight as the candidates debated the future of Medicare, federal spending, taxes and the broader purpose of government.
2 On Your Side's Michael Wooten is out at Corwin's campaign headquarters tonight, he says her camp was optimistic despite the early results that showed Hochul in the lead. Her campaign managers say she spent the afternoon and evening making phone calls to get out the last minute vote.
Channel 2's Dave McKinley was at the Democrat headquarters, where there was also an optimistic mood, again reflecting on the latest poll numbers.
Marissa Bailey has been reporting from Jack Davis' headquarters, Davis told her that "wild cards win poker games, I don't mind that." He also said that "people have been wrong about me before."
The winner will fill a seat left vacant since Feb. 9 by Rep. Chris Lee, R-Clarence, who abruptly resigned.
The district includes Livingston, Wyoming and Genesee counties, and parts of Orleans, Niagara, Erie and Monroe counties.
