SINCLAIRVILLE, NY - Kayla Franchina, 18, has found what just might be the perfect prom dress.
Not for her, but maybe for one of her fellow classmates who, without her, would go without one.
The Cassadaga Valley High School senior has been busy collecting dozens of dresses for "Project Prom Dress," an effort she started to give away free dresses to girls who can't afford them.
Faculty, students, and community members have all made donations for the drive, but Kayla is looking for more dresses and accessories.
She's looking especially for plus-size dresses.
Her hard work is sparking good will in others, who have come forward looking to sponsor a girl for prom. One woman offered to buy a student a brand new dress and pay for her hair and nails.
Kayla is throwing a pre-prom dress party on Sunday, May 1st so her classmates can try on and hopefully find a dress they like for free. It will be at 3 p.m. at the Gerry United Methodist Church.
If you have a new or gently used dress, shoes, or accessories you would like to donate, call the Cassadaga Valley High School at (716) 962-8581.
