Volunteers prepare meals at S. Buffalo Community Table
The South Buffalo Community Table is a food pantry and soup kitchen which has served people in need for decades under the guidance of Sister Celeste O'Bryan of the Sisters of Mercy. It is located at the Good Shepard Baptist Church on Southside Parkway near the intersection of Abbott and South Park.
But a malfunctioning freezer has caused thousands of pounds of meat to spoil, putting the pantry in a bind. Sister Celeste and her volunteers are now asking for help in re-stocking their pantry.
Kathleen Higgins Greeley of the Community Table's Board of Directors points out that normally they feed about 70 people a day with a hot meal. Other people in need are given take-home packages of food. Higgins Greeley said they seemed to be all set for the winter months with donated food. But the freezer problem changed their situation.
So, now they are asking for help from Heroes in Western New York. They can accept donations every day except Friday when the food pantry is closed . You can also contact Sister Celeste or the other Community Table volunteers at 822 - 3193.
