Winter snow above average so far in WNY

It's the first day of February and looking back at January and the winter so far, we are above normal with snowfall.

Buffalo, NY -- It's the first day of February and it's looking like a cold and snowy month is expected.

Now that January is over, here's a wrap up of how the month looked for snow and temperatures.

January snowfall made it to 31.2", which is above the normal of 25.3". Compare this to last year's 11".

As for temperatures, even though there was record cold to start January and then record heat mid month, it seemed to all average out in the end.

January averaged out to 24.2 F, which is a little below the normal temperature for the month of 24.9 F.

As for winter snowfall, so far Buffalo has received 65.1" which is above the normal of 61.5". Compare this to last year's 42".
