Fred Jackson officially retires as a Buffalo Bill

Former Bills running back, Fred Jackson signed a one-day contract to officially retire as a Buffalo Bill.

ORCHARD PARK, NY — Former Bills running back Fred Jackson quickly became a fan favorite when he came to Buffalo. Not only on the field, but off the field became part of this community and it's a two-way street.

Jackson loves Buffalo, the Bills and of course, Bills Mafia. That's why he came back to sign a one-day contract to retire as a Buffalo Bill.

"I've always made it known that this is what I wanted to do, to retire as a Buffalo Bill," Jackson said.

Even though he didn't end his playing career with the Bills, he spent nine of his 10 seasons in the NFL with Buffalo.

After going undrafted in 2003, he played indoor football for the Sioux City Bandits then even played a year in Germany before getting the invite to Bills training camp in 2006.

"To get to the NFL the way I did and last 10 years is something I'm very proud of," Jackson explained.

Jackson took the opportunity and ran with it, literally. He ended third on the Bills all-time rushing list behind Thurman Thomas and O.J. Simpson.

As for what's next, Jackson said he will start a football camp in August here in Buffalo but don't be surprised he if tries a career in broadcasting after he attended the NFL broadcast camp at Bowling Green.
