WWE legend Ric Flair has 'long road ahead' after unspecified surgery

The prognosis for wrestling legend Ric Flair remains unknown as do the specifics of the surgery he underwent on Monday.

Ric Flair is in the hospital, facing 'some tough medical issues.'

Two-time WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair underwent "successful surgery earlier today; however, he is not out of the woods yet," according to WWE announcer Michael Cole during the broadcast of Monday Night RAW.

The prognosis for the 68-year-old wrestling legend remains unknown, as do the specifics of the surgery, although Flair’s representative tweeted that the surgery was not heart related, contrary to earlier reports.

Melinda Morris Zanoni, CEO of Legacy Talent and Entertainment, tweeted there was "still a long road ahead" and urged supporters to keep Flair, his three children and fiance in their prayers.

Flair’s family, including daughter Ashley (who wrestles as Charlotte), are said to be with him in the hospital in Atlanta.

"Our thoughts and prayers are going out to his family in Atlanta tonight," Cole said, echoing a day of tweets from fans and professional wrestling stars of the past and present.

Flair was reportedly put in a medically induced coma earlier Monday in advance of the surgery.

Morris Zanoni had initially downplayed Flair's hospitalization Saturday for what was described as "routine monitoring."

The situation, however, escalated quickly and the representative tweeted late Sunday night asking for prayers for Flair, saying that he was facing “some tough medical issues.”

She tweeted: "Are u a Fan/Friend of Ric Flair? If so, we need prayers & positive energy 4 our Living Legend as he is dealing w/some tough medical issues."

WWE Hall of Famer Michael Hayes tweeted that he visited Flair in the hospital on Sunday before Hayes traveled to Boston for Monday Night Raw.

Hayes noted the severity of the situation: "I can assure the he needs everyone's prayers and positive vibes."
