PA woman arrested with loaded gun at Buffalo Airport

A woman from Erie, Penn. was arrested after an x-ray machine at the Buffalo Niagara International Airport spotted a loaded weapon in her carry-on bag.

BUFFALO, NY -- A woman from Erie, Penn. was arrested by the Transportation Security Administration earlier this week after she was caught with a loaded handgun at the Buffalo Niagara International Airport, according to the TSA.

The woman was caught with a 9 mm handgun in one of her carry-on bags. The gun was loaded with six bullets.

The weapon was spotted by an x-ray machine at the TSA checkpoint. NFTA Police were notified, the firearm taken away and the woman was arrested.

"Incidents such as these provide a stark reminder of the critical role the Transportation Security Administration plays in the protection of the flying public," said Bart Johnson, TSA's Upstate NY Federal Security Director. "I would like to thank the prompt response of the Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority Police for their swift action."

It was the first time this year that a gun was seized at the airport. In 2017, TSA officers detected three firearms in carry-on bags at BNIA.
