Brown Bags of Hope benefit WNY families in need

BUFFALO, NY-- This year more than ever, local families are struggling to put food on the table. The season of giving is upon us and once again WGRZ has partnered with the Food Bank of WNY and Tops Markets for Food 2 Families

Tops Friendly Markets and volunteers were packing up the 'Brown Bags of Hope' on Thursday that can be purchased at Tops and donated to the Food Bank of WNY. The bags go on sale Monday, November 23. Each Brown Bag of Hope contains nutritious food needed by The Food Bank to help feed families in need. Brown Bags of Hope are available for $5, $10 & $20.

Then join us on Friday, December 4 for our annual Food 2 Families Food Drive. Volunteers from the Food Bank of WNY will be at the following Tops Markets all day( 7am-9pm) to collect non-perishable food items.

  • Tops Market - 4777 Transit Road at French, Depew (2 On Your Side will be broadcasting LIVE all day 5am-9pm from this location)
  • Tops Market - Niagara Falls, 7200 Niagara Falls Blvd.
  • Tops Market - Amherst, 3980 Maple Rd. (across from Blvd. Mall)
  • Tops Market - Hamburg, S. 6150 South Park Ave.
  • Tops Market - Buffalo, 2101 Elmwood Ave.
  • Tops Market - Lockport, 5827 S. Transit Rd.

Suggested items to donate: Canned tuna fish, peanut butter, canned soups and stews, canned fruit and vegetables, boxes or bags of rice, 100% Fruit Juice, Macaroni and cheese, Jelly or jam.

The Food Bank of Western New York provides food and services to 326 member agencies including food pantries, soup kitchens, shelters and group homes in Cattaraugus, Chautauqua, Erie and Niagara counties.

A total of 116,691 individuals, including 43,875 children, are served through Food Bank of WNY member agencies each and every month. On average, 41,348 families rely on Food Bank services each month.
