ALDEN, NY -- The State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation out of Clarence has arrested and charged an Alden man for allegedly assaulting his baby.
On January 7, Troopers responded to a medical call for a four-month-old child that had fallen.
The baby was taken to Children's Hospital, where it was discovered the baby suffered from bilateral subdural hemorrhages - a result of shaken baby syndrome.
On January 16, 28-year-old Joseph Jurek, the child's father, was arrested and charged with first degree assault, reckless assault of a child, criminal possession of marijuana, and endangering the welfare of a child.
Jurek was arraigned at the Village of Alden Court and was taken to the Erie County Jail in lieu of $25,000 bail.
