WNY woman making a difference behind the camera

A Western New York woman worked behind the camera for NBC during the Olympics.

NORTH TONAWANDA, N.Y. – During the Olympics, we highlighted all the local athletes taking part in the games, but there was one Western New Yorker making a big difference behind the camera.

It takes a huge team behind-the-scenes at NBC to bring the games to a television audience, and Alison Chilton from North Tonawanda was in South Korea working as part of the production team. Alison was there for three-and-a-half weeks, logging a lot of video.

Friday night, she shared her personal photos and videos with us. The Ithaca College grad also worked for NBC during the Rio games, but she was stateside then. In South Korea, she worked a night shift, which meant she was able to see some of the events including bobsledding, skeleton, skiing, and snowboarding.

"The atmosphere at Shaun White's half pipe final was incredible. There were a lot of Americans there. I did find quite a few Bills fans which I was pretty proud of. It was just electric. And I don't know how to describe it in any other way that me, and the people that I went with, were on a high for the rest of the day. It was a lot of fun," says Chilton.

Alison says she wants to go back to South Korea so she can explore the country because she didn't get to see much of it since she was working. She's hoping to work for NBC again during the Olympics.
