Unique Eats at Joe's Deli

BUFFALO, N.Y. - North Buffalonians have been getting sandwiches for years at Joe's Deli on Hertel Avenue.

But when the deli opened up a second location on Elmwood about a year ago, it brought something entirely different to the table.

The Elmwood location combines a deli, casual dining restaurant, and bar into a compact building just north of West Utica. Patrons can chow down on a wide cariety of inventive sandwiches and soups while enjoying craft beers, some local, and a rotating menu of entrees.

Manager Eliseo Taborda says a big draw in the summertime is the patio, along with the garage door-style windows int he main dining area that give even the indoor seating an outdoor feel- which is a good atmosphere on the always-interesting Elmwood strip.

What sets Joe's food apart from other delis, though, is the variety of sandwiches. Unique Eats is a devoted fan of "The Hawk," which combines corned beef, turkey, bacon and a delicious onion jam on a ciabatta roll. Other big draws include the Caprese Arancini balls (a Taste of Buffalo favorite with mozzarella, tomatoes and balsamic), the 534 Elmwood (BBQ beef brisket, cole slaw, crispy onions and jalapeno mayo) and the Sweet Baby James (grilled chicken, lettuce, onion, tomato and the restaurant's deliciously unique fried avocado crisps).

The deli also features a back room for hosting parties and meetings year-round, as well as a catering service. Check them out at their website here(and find their daily specials on their Facebook page each day), and let us know where to go next on our Facebook page.
