The StoryCorps mobile unit is in Buffalo for the next month to record 40 minute conversations between two people. It's a way to tell the oral history of people across the country that will also be archived in the Library of Congress. Buffalo's NPR station, WBFO-FM, is partnered with StoryCorps to bring this project to Canalside.
"But why do we do this work? We do it with the hopes of further understanding. To help people recognize our own shared humanity. And for people to feel the power of their own voice," said Stacey Todd, the mobile booth manager for StoryCorps.
Since the project started in 2003, StoryCorps has collected and archived more than 66,000 stories from throughout the nation.
Anyone can take part. You can sign up for an appointment by heading to StoryCorps' website starting at 10:00 a.m. on Friday September 9th.
