Women who take stress reduction classes are better able to cope with some symptoms of menopause.
Researchers enrolled 110 women who were experiencing hot flashes in a weekly class that included training in meditation, mental body scanning and stretching exercises.
Three months later, women who took the class were less bothered by their hot flashes -- compared to those who were on the waiting list for the class.
They also reported less stress, better sleep, and overall improvement in their quality of life.
