Jackie Albarella brings a rich background of over 20 years experience in video, television, theater, and writing to every project she undertakes.
The range of her experience includes over 20 years of live theater, including lead roles in over 100 summer stock, dinner theatre and regional theatre productions, including the one woman show-“Shirley Valentine”. Her versatility was proven as a lead performer with a touring children’s theater troupe, playing the evil witch by day and performing stand-up comedy in clubs at night.
Albarella was the producer and host of the nationally syndicated program “Gardening for Real People” which aired in over 20 markets throughout the United States. Her garden programs and specials have been broadcast on several PBS stations and used as fundraisers for WNED TV Buffalo/Toronto. Her humorous essays have been heard on the morning programs on NPR radio. Albarella is the producer and host of “Lets Go Garden”, part of Cablevisions video on demand offering known as MagRack. Airing throughout Long Island, Washington, DC, Los Angeles, and the Midwest markets, “Lets Go Garden” is a mixture of how-to segments and visits to some of the world’s most beautiful and famous gardens. Whether in London or Monticello, Albarella’s common sense approach and warm delivery appeals to every audience.
Albarella has received numerous awards including the New York State Broadcasters Award, national Telly Awards, American Advertising Federation Awards and the National Garden Writers Association Award for her television work and the communications pieces she creates for national corporations.
As the founding Executive Director of the Charles E. Burchfield Nature & Art Center in West Seneca, NY, Albarella helped to create the organization, and many of the nature and art programs that continue today. Albarella initiated the speaker series, trail discussion groups and is a frequent guest speaker on subjects ranging from gardening, to environment to art. She has been a guest speaker for many garden clubs, and nature groups, as well as the keynote speaker for the Olmsted Parks Conservancy Annual Meeting in Buffalo, NY, the ADK Walking Club, The Des Moines Home and Garden show. Albarella is a teaching artist with the Arts in Education organization, and also works with Western New York Schools through New York State artist-in-residence grants and programs.
Albarella is a lifelong gardener, a member of the Erie County Agricultural Society and the Garden Writers Association. She has a regular column in the Buffalo News and gardens her parents original homestead in Gardenville, NY.
