Dozens of heroes attended a benefit at Buffalo's Burchfield-Penney art gallery, hoping to raise enough money to buy a playground complete with landscaping.
The playground is a way for Dr. Steven Ambrusko and his family to honor the lives of his two young children that died in a tragic car accident while he was driving his kids back to Buffalo.
Dr. Ambrusko and his ex-wife are raising the money in the hopes of placing the playground next to his daughters' former school in Pittsburgh. Thursday's benefit was a huge success.
"It's an amazing turnout, the support of friends and family has been overwhelming, and it really touches my heart," said Dr. Ambrusko.
Commercial playgrounds are not cheap. Dr. Ambrusko says they need to raise close to $200 thousand dollars for the equipment and the landscaping. He and his ex-wife hope to have it built in the next two years.
