WEST SENECA, N.Y. -- Buffalo's Roman Catholic Bishop Malone celebrated a special mass in West Seneca Sunday morning.
It was part of an outdoor service at St. John XXIII Parish, which formed from the merging of the St. Williams and St. Bonaventure communities back in 2008. The parish was celebrating 60 years of the former St. Williams site.
Bishop Malone said it was exciting to see so many people gathered for the service. He added, "We have a lot of work to do to get more people involved, but this is an example of a parish that's vibrant, and faithful, and being what the Lord wants us all to be."
The church has been offering outdoor masses for its parishioners for years on its historic outdoor altar called, "Mount Calvary."
