Several inches of sleet and snow fell across Western New York Friday evening into Saturday.

Highway crews are working to plow and treat roadways. Drivers should be aware that even trace amounts of ice can make the roads very slick.
City of Buffalo Streets Commissioner Steve Stepniak says crews will be out Saturday morning clearing city streets.

Snow totals will vary greatly across the region. In general, 5 to 12 inches is likely for places like Niagara Falls and Buffalo. Northern Erie and Niagara Counties will likely see the low end of that range. Parts of the Genesee Valley and Southern Tier may see totals pass the one foot mark. The heaviest snow will fall overnight Friday. This will be a very wet snow, making it very heavy and more difficult to shovel.
