MOOSIC, Penn.- The Buffalo Bisons lost their eighth straight game to Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, 4-3, on Thursday afternoon in extra innings at PNC Field, after a walk-off single from Miguel Andujar.

The RailRiders tied up the game in the ninth inning with a Mark Payton single to centerfield to score Jake Cave. Pushing the game into extras, former Buffalo infielder Jonathan Diaz, Cave, and Payton loaded the bases in the eleventh with Scranton dow a run. On the next at bat, Miguel Andujar singled on a grounder to center field to score a pair and ultimately win the game.

Buffalo was on their way to victory in the top half of the eleventh after a double from Dwight Smith Jr. In the ensuing at bat, Gregorio Petit drilled a grounder to center field to plate Smith Jr. and take a 3-2 lead in the game.

Roemon Fields stretched the Herd lead to a 2-0 advantage earlier in the seventh inning. In the first at bat of the frame, Petit singled on a line drive to centerfield and Jake Elmore obtained ball four to put runners on first and second. Then on the first Jonathan Holder pitch he saw, Fields batted a line drive to center field to score Petit.

Cesar Valdez gave the Herd a complete seven innings on the mound. Despite allowing seven hits and a walk on the afternoon, the righty stranded every batter on base to keep the game scoreless under his watch. Valdez threw 87 pitches on the afternoon with 66 of them being strikes and he also had a trio of strikeouts before leaving the game.

Taking over for Valdez was Matt Dermody. The southpaw gave an inning of relief that allowed the first run of the day off of one hit. Chris Smith pitched the ninth inning and gave up the tying run and a pair of hits.

Blue Jays LHP J.P. Howell came in for a scoreless 10th inning. Murphy Smith pitched the final inning for the Herd, allowing the final two runs.

The Herd loss caps off a three game set with the Railriders. Buffalo will now travel to Pawtucket for a 7:05 p.m. matchup on Friday night. Righty Luis Santos (2-8, 4.48 ERA) will man the mound for the Herd and Kyle Kendrick (2-5, 7.44 ERA) will start for the PawSox.

BISONS NOTES: Blue Jays LHP JP Howell was added to the Bisons roster for MLB rehab on Thursday for a tight left-shoulder…Fields has 19 hits in his last 54 at bats, good for a .352 average in that span.
