Many were stunned when Bills completed a pair of blockbuster trades with the Rams and Eagles, and Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz is no exception.
The Eagles sent Wentz's favorite target and "best friend" Jordan Matthews and a third-round pick to the Bills for cornerback Ronald Darby. It's a move that shocked Wentz, who is quite close with Matthews.
Crazy part of this business. @jmattjmattjmatt you'll always be my boy both on & off the field. Couldn't ask for a better teammate & friend.— Carson Wentz (@cj_wentz) August 11, 2017
If Wentz's tweet doesn't convince you how close the two were, maybe this will:
Wentz later drove Matthews to the airport.
Wentz says he drove Matthews to the airport. "It'll be different. It'll be tough."— Les Bowen (@LesBowen) August 12, 2017
Matthews led the Eagles in receiving in 2016, catching 73 passes for 804 yards and three touchdowns in Wentz's first season in the league.
Wentz wasn't the only Eagle to share how beloved Matthews was in Philly — tight ends Zack Ertz and Trey Burton posted about how Matthews made an impact on both of their lives.
I can honestly say, I don't think a teammate has had a bigger impact on my life both on and off the field. One of the hardest workers I've ever been around and going to miss going to battle with him every Sunday!
